PDW 2026: Local HQ

This year Perth Design Week took over the secret backrooms of The Liberty Theatre, with an interactive exhibition by local interiors manufacturers and suppliers. It was a coalition of organisations that represent the best of WA's interior design industry.

Open to design enthusiasts, industry professionals, and anyone curious, we invited people to wander through this collective showcase, where local makers, manufacturers and creative peers came together under one historic roof at The Liberty Theatre.

Did you know?

Originally opening on 1 March 1954 as Perth’s first dedicated art house cinema, The Liberty Theatre was designed by Krantz & Sheldon to screen foreign-language and European films within an intimate, contemporary setting. While its life as a specialty cinema was relatively brief, the venue continued to evolve, screening diverse film genres until the early 1990s.

Today, thanks to current owner Randal Humich and the Humich Group, the theatre has been carefully reimagined as a live music and cultural venue. Since reopening in 2022 it has hosted events – including for Perth Design Week – once again bringing audiences together to experience creativity in a historic setting.
